We are ready to start Episode 3: Managing Conflict on July 17 with Sarah Hinds

We look back on two wonderful sessions on Influencing and Negotiation followed by Self-Branding last two Fridays with George Stylianou from Shinesmith Academy. The attendance was impressive, with over 50 participants enrolled to follow the 5 episodes of the series. Trained to become behavioural detectives, George thought us the numerous ways to do it and addressed clearly that to begin appreciating the behavioural ‘comfort zone’ of others, you’ll need to ask two simple questions;

  1. Does this person ask questions first or do they tend to immediately tell you what they think?
  2. Does this person tend to focus on what needs they have to get things done or do they take time to consider whose help they’re going to need in getting the job done?

We learned from George that it’s a colourful world out there: “It won’t take you long to find a company who will readily provide you with a ‘personality’ profile. Once completed, you’ll receive an impressively detailed report that describes you….but that’s just the problem! Although the information provided is excellent, all they really demonstrate is how you see you! Isn’t it more important to understand how other people see you?” George advised that a next time when engaging with a colleague, client, parent, partner or friend, to consider two questions; Who are THEY? and, Am I coming across in a way that makes THEM feel comfortable?”

We pursue with the Thinkshop Series Episode 3 on Managing Conflict with Sarah Hinds next Friday 17 July.
